Built in 1918 to designs by Clarke Waggaman and George Ray, the 6,600-square-foot, detached townhouse has a rare garage, six bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, an elevator, and fully restored interiors.

That restoration was conducted by the current owner, who, in light of the expense, is not seeking much of a profit. The house last sold in 2008 for just over $4 million and is currently listed for $5 million. The architecture may lose its luster next to some of the more elaborate examples nearby, but the location, on a side street and away from traffic, makes this a more desirable family home.
