Two points: 1- I am committed to providing info that is accurate and truthful on my blog, not just spreading the "Now A Great Time To Buy, Folks!" NAR line. So, while that truth-telling is appealing to customers, at the same time I'm telling them "Now might NOT be the best time to buy". The Hamptons market does not appear to have bottomed yet; yes we lagged in the market down-turn. This leads to lots of customers who are in limbo. 2- We must get better at knowing who is and who isn't our 'good fit' customer and figure out how to 'fire or refer' those who don't fit our own particular model. Now, more then ever, we need to qualify, qualify, qualify and focus on the people and circumstances that will most likely lead to transactions. That's being responsible to our own business. Alli- You were my first real connection with Inman, I remember meeting you at Inman Connect in NY several years back. You are a terrific writer, story-teller and have set a great example for many new people (and vets) in the business. Best to you. You will surely be missed on these pages. There's a real danger in this type of anecdotal reporting. "40% of buyers" could be 2 of 5 or 40 of 100. In our quest to look for "good news", IMHO it's important to quantify what's happening. We know how "anecdotal" real estate agents and brokers can be... ps- read the comments on the curbed post. The comments are where the real story is all too often.
